FUMAROLE DI LISCA BIANCA – GROTTA DEGLI INNAMORATI
ISOLA DI PANAREA
Lisca Bianca is part of the structure of an underwater volcano. It is an island tilted west to east, about 300 m long and about 150 m wide, and so-named for the whitish color of its rock. In the past, alum was extracted from its rocks. It hosts the small Cave of Lovers, where according to legend, lovers who kiss there will remain united forever. In the stretch of sea between Lisca Bianca and other rocks, the water boils with hundreds of columns of bubbles: here you are at the centre of the original, not yet completely dormant, volcano.
